Programs


VALLEY DAYS - is an intensive environmental living program set in an 1880 agricultural community for third and fourth grade San Joaquin County students.  It includes training for teachers and volunteers.  If you are a classroom teacher, the museum staff will put you in touch with our Valley Days coordinator for more information and applications.  Applications are due June 30th for each year. PIONEER SCHOOL - offers school children a day in a school environment very similar to that of rural children who attended a one-room school in the 1880's in San Joaquin County.  As far as possible, everything is authentic to the period.   Applications are due July 31st for each year.  Calendar is set in September for the full school year.    Fee: $100 per class. GRANDMOTHER'S TRUNK  EXHIBITS - this exhibit is conducted at your site or at the museum by a museum docent.  It is an interactive exploration of the contents of a trunk or suitcase that includes selected museum objects.  Fee: $35 per group.

MY CAMP (Museum Youth Camp) - My Camp is a summer day camp presented in the month of June for children between the ages of 5 and 10 years. This camp is a fun and educational way to learn about our past. The two different themes and time periods that are emphasized are: the late 1880's (Pioneer Days) June 19-23 and the 1960' s (Fabulous Sixties) June 26-30

We meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Call our Education Department for more information on dates and to enroll your child.

Fee: $50.00 for society member families, $60.00 for non-members.

SCHOOL TOURS - Our museum offers docent guided tours to schools and groups. Tours generally last one hour. A minimum of 20 people per group is required. $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children (6-12). For more information or to book a tour contact the Museum Education Department.

PHOTO PRESENTATIONS - Grandma's History of Lodi, The History of Micke Grove Park, Postcard History of Stockton, Lockeford Slide Show.  Fee: $25.00.

PROGRAM SPEAKER - Audience: 15 or more persons.  Presentations are conducted on a variety of subjects that include the San Joaquin County Historical Society & Museum, San Joaquin County History, Life on the River, and San Joaquin County Agricultural History.  Presentations are conducted on your site or at the museum.  Larger audiences will require a facility with an adequate public address system.  Fee: $100.00.
